Scope of the Position

Initiates new revenue by developing a consistent pipeline of new clients that meet individual sales goals and new business targets while also delivering a comprehensive service experience on all accounts.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identifies new leads and develops, presents and sells new business proposals to appropriate prospects which fit the ideal Burnham client profile
  • Conducts thorough needs analysis and risk assessment to uncover prospects and current clients’ unique coverage needs
  • Develops, delivers and sells renewal proposals
  • Invests in cross-selling, direct selling and cold calling activities to solicit new accounts
  • Expands lines of coverage within current accounts
  • Attends and actively participates in regular sales meetings
  • Completes applications, obtains quotes, negotiates premiums and commissions, prepares proposals and presentations
  • Establishes premium payment arrangements within agency policies, which includes accountability for outstanding receivables
  • Reviews coverage, identifies deficiencies and determines appropriate level of coverage
  • Provides timely and accurate prospects data in order to track and monitor activities for management reporting and sales forecasts, as well as complies with agency CRM system data standards and data integrity
  • Ensures timeframes and deliverables are met in the sales process, and ensures that post-sales teams provide quality service to all assigned clients
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship and rapport with each insurance carrier to satisfy clients’ needs and facilitate the processing of business
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and actively supports and promotes a healthy and positive public image for the firm, including but not limited to participation in industry associations, organizations, boards and charities, as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • BA/BS degree preferred, high school diploma required
  • 5-10 years related work experience
  • Must possess valid insurance licenses
  • Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent and proven business skills with emphasis in organizational selling
  • Ability to work within a team and foster teamwork
  • Possesses drive, empathy, energy and integrity with the ability to influence others
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
