Burnham Benefits Announces Results of 2012 Southern California Employee-Benefits Benchmarking Survey

Latest survey data allows OC employers to compare benefits and share best practices in local market and nationwide

Integrating with nationwide results compiled by a leading national research organization specializing in healthcare industries and employers, Burnham commissions the study each year as part of a larger aim to deliver world-class service and provide measurable data not available with other firms.

The Burnham Benchmarking Survey once again reveals controlling healthcare costs as the top priority among Southern California employers. Participants indicate ongoing economic growth concerns and volatility relating to healthcare reform as significant macro-economic issues and disclose organizational initiatives and strategies that may play an impactful role in mitigating costs. The survey also indicated employee health improvements (such as obesity and chronic diseases) were key drivers for companies looking to develop new strategies.

Since employers can directly impact the improvement of employee health, some of those concerns are being addressed with higher rates of involvement in wellness programs, with 60 percent of respondents implementing such a program in the past year. Disease-management programs are significantly more prevalent in Southern California than in the rest of the nation.
